MBL Seeks Investors After Filing for InsolvencyHigh-end speaker and audio electronics maker MBL—best known for its groundbreaking Radialstrahler loudspeakers—has hit a financial rough patch. The Berlin-based company filed for insolvency on May 27, 2025, and is now actively seeking investors.
The court tapped restructuring expert Frank Brachwitz of PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency administrator. MBL says it's business as usual: manufacturing and sales are ongoing, and the roughly 50 employees across its two German locations are still getting paid thanks to Germany's insolvency fund. MBL's U.S. branch isn't affected.
"We are very pleased that our employees remain on board with great commitment and confidence," notes MBL managing director Christian Hermeling. "This shows how much potential and passion there is in our company. We are looking ahead with confidence and are determined to consistently exploit the opportunities that now present themselves."
Provisional insolvency administrator Frank Brachwitz adds that "MBL has an excellent product portfolio, a loyal international customer base and an experienced team. These strengths form the basis for an investor solution that will enable the company to continue and develop successfully."Founded in 1979, MBL builds all its speakers and electronics at its own facility near Berlin. In its official press release the company says orders and customer support are still running smoothly, with the same high quality its customers expect.
