本人在美看到ES7售價不到60美元，遂購買一支。拿到手一看包裝盒，赫然寫著Made in China。寫郵件詢問美國官方，對方先說是日本制造，后看到我發去的照片后改口承認是真品且是中國制造。下面附聯系郵件供參考。

詢問一：

I bought a new pair of ATH-ES7 headphone online. I found on its box, it said "made in China". I remembered that I read a magazine or somewhere said the authentic ones are manufactured in Japan. I am confusing that the headphone I bought is an authentic one or a fake one because I cannot find any info about its manufacture place on its body. So I write this email to ask you teach me how to distinguish it.

The ES7 are made in Japan and depending the place of purchase, there are two different types of packaging. In the US, the carton is white and dark grey.

On counterfeit(CF) ES7, here are some areas to check;

Mirror finish on the earcup should only be on the earcup surface and not on the edge. Most counterfeit ES7 have this poor mirror finish on the entire earcup surface.
The left and right indicators should be silver block letters. I have seen CF ES7 with gold and script lettering.
The real difference is the speaker drivers used and this is not easy to explain as the CF use many different types. If you can see under the mesh the voice coil should have a blue/green tint. You may have to remove an ear pad to see this and if your pair is a CF, you may not be able to get the ear pad back on due to the adhesive used on the CF’s.

If you want to send some pictures I will try to determine. Please take pictures of the carton and the entire headphone detailing the above points.

詢問二：

I bought it online inside US. I took some pics and please check the attachments. At the bottom of the box, there is a line said "Designed and engineered in Japan. Made in China", which made me doubt whether it is a CF ES7.

回復二：

From the photo you have supplied these appear to be authentic ES7. I misstated the country of origin and the correct country is China as you have stated. These were at one point designed and made in Japan.
