hello, I am using jrdg capri with m102s , source component is philips lhh500r + benchmark DAC 1 D/A converter.
Now it seems that I have some matching issue between my D/A converter and Capri pre-amp.

I have done trials based on below scenarios:

Scenario 1  (D/A converter + Capri+ M102s)
Scenario 2  (D/A converter(using variable output) + M102s)

End result in scenario 1 is all excellent except for punch and dynamics esp listening to classic symphonies. For the set-up of scenario 2 , I got more punch and greater dynamics.

Therefore I am wondering if the input impedance and volt of Capri does not match with Benchmark DAC1 D/A converter, will that be the key issue which results in the effect on punch and dynamics. Any system matching suggestions? Any guidelines for CD or D/A's output stage specs?

One more issue, now my D/A output level set at -10DB.

However when D/A output set at 0db , there will be audible distortion on the high/mid range which is suspected to be frequency cut-off by the pre-amp although punch and dynamics improved to a great extent.

I tried 2 D/As , benchmark dac1 and lavry DA10, both encountered the same issue.

Any clarification or solutions?
