Thanks for your interest in Musical Fidelity.  Unfortunately, the X-CAN V8 and V8P have been discontinued for about 6 months.  However, there is a great replacement in the works that should be available this summer.  Please see the excerpt from our dealer notification about the all new M1-Series of products that will be replacing the X-Series.

In June, Musical Fidelity will introduce the M1 DAC, which is more than just an improved version of the V-DAC.  It’s housed in a new, sleek chassis that is actually ½ the width, and the exact height, of the new M3-series.  It has a robust linear power supply built into the unit and a detachable power cord.  It has four switchable digital inputs on XLR, RCA coax, optical, and USB, and both balanced and single-ended outputs.

Its overall technical performance exceeds that of the V-DAC: better signal-to-noise ratio, lower jitter, and a low, 50ohm output impedance with healthy 4.4V output voltage that should drive any preamplifier in existence.  It will also accept up to 24bit/192kHz source material via RCA coax and AES/EBU.

Following the M1 DAC, and available toward the end of the summer, will be the M1 Pure Class-A Headphone Amplifier, housed again in the same new, ½-width M1 chassis.  For those who’ve experienced the gorgeous Class-A AMS-series, you have a pretty good idea what this little honey will sound like: rich, full, and smooth, but with resolution and grip that is really out of this world.  Naturally this all comes along with great technical performance: low noise, flat response... all the things you’ve come to expect from Musical Fidelity.
